This is what Date Night dreams are made of!!!
Imagine this…it’s a clear chilly night in Autumn, you have bottomless popcorn in one hand & candy in the other, you’re bundled up next to your favorite person watching a classic film on THE ROOF in downtown Houston. THIS IS REAL LIFE PEOPLE, not a movie. And as of October 3rd, Rooftop Cinema Club is now open in Houston!
Last week we spent our Friday night with Rooftop Cinema Club seeing Dazed & Confused and we had SUCH a fun time. I already can’t wait to do it again! Now there’s some things I wish I had known before hand so I’m sharing some tips for your Rooftop Cinema experience:
The word is spreading FAST about Houston’s newest movie experience, so tickets are selling out fast!! I bought tickets to our showing a whole month in advance! Now not every movie will be this way, but the most popular films sell out the quickest (obvi). October is almost completely sold out; only one night is available for a Thursday night showing of Galaxy Quest. But there are still great films to buy tickets for in November!

Make Yourself At Home
Bring blankets, pillows, cozy slippers..whatever makes you comfy! Cause tbh, the seats aren’t that comfy. I brought a big blanket and folded it in my chair to add more cushion for my booty and back. The seats are like fold out beach chairs, made out of canvas material and wood. But they do have adjustable reclining so you can lean pretty far back. I just recommend bring something to use as a cushion if you have a sensitive lower back.
The Love Seat is a double seated chair made for 2 people, and those look more comfortable but sell out even faster than regular lounge seats.
Pro-tip: when selecting a ticket, select the bottomless popcorn ticket option. It’s so worth it! 10/10 recommend.
Come Hungry &&& Thirsty
They have a fun movie-themed cocktail list along with plenty of local brews, basic beers, and wine. And aside from the bottomless popcorn they also partnered up with Good Dog for some good eats.
Just to give you a heads up on the restroom situation… Be aware that there is no bathroom on the roof. Maybe they’ll come up with something in the future? For now you can take the elevator to the 3rd floor to use the buildings restrooms. BUT when coming back up, press level 4! Even though the roof is “technically” level 5, the elevators won’t take you up to 5. So trust me, just press 4.
I made a mistake and parked at the Whole Foods parking garage and then walked over. Honestly it’s not a big deal, they’re in the same shopping center. The correct parking is in BLVD garage on the 5th floor. So just passed the Whole Food’s garage. You’ll be parked on the same level of the RCC and alongside the food/bar area.
So the movie is played through headphones that they provide. I know, I was skeptical at first too. But they’re actually really nice, comfortable, and block out any sound of traffic that could be nearby. Also my husband and I noticed we were able to pick up on funny parts in the movie that we never heard before. So I’m actually all for it.
If you’re trying to get to know someone on a first date or something I recommend coming early and talking over drinks and Good Dog before hand. There’s plenty of seating at the bar and food area along with cute lights, music, and games like corn hole.
Alright Alright Alright…
That’s all I have for you today! I seriously cant wait to go again. I hope you end up trying it out! And if you do, let me know how you liked it 🙂
