Es Taco Time!

As promised, I am listing another great taco treasure in Htown! Even though its been awhile since my last taco post, better late than never right?!

Tacos A Go Go is the next spot you need to spend your Taco Tuesday! The original location is in Midtown off of Main Street but there’s several locations around Houston. This funky little Tex Mex restaurant does a great job of bringing together unique ingredients like mushrooms and tater tots into their tacos. Best known (and praised) for their breakfast tacos, but I just had to try their lunch menu.

With great contemplation, I chose to order a Verde Taco & Tater Taco. I ordered both of my tacos on corn tortillas but they offer flour, whole wheat & “puffy” as well. Making your taco “puffy” means deep-frying the tortilla. The Verde taco is a vegetarian taco full of flavor and color! Grilled veggies, black beans, with a red pepper cream sauce that’s bomb af!!! My second taco, The Tater Taco, was a repeat offender. I ordered it my first time visiting Tacos A Go Go and had to do it again cause it was that good! They truly put the Tex in this Tex Mex taco. It’s made up of Mexican tater tots, black beans, queso, crispy bacon, salsa, jalapenos, tomatoes, fresh cilantro, and sour cream. Ridiculously good & ridiculously messy! So grab napkins.

My husband, Austin, ordered the Grilled Shrimp taco & the Grilled beef taco; The grilled Shrimp taco was his favorite. It has well seasoned shrimp, grilled jalapenos, sliced avocado, cilantro, queso fresco, & avocado crema (recommend squeezing some lime on it). Very tasty & not too rough on the waistline! The Grilled Beef taco was your typical Texas taco with tender skirt steak marinated, roasted red pepper sauce, topped with Monterey Jack, shredded lettuce, and chopped tomatoes. A classic go-to taco.

The menu is full of other options other than tacos as well! Such as quesadillas, burritos, ensaladas, nachos, and last but certainly not least…Totchos! These bad boys are basically nachos, but replace the chips with tater tots. Totchos are topped with black beans, queso, crispy bacon, salsa roja, pickled jalapenos, tomatoes, fresh cilantro & sour cream . *queue the heart eyes* This is a fan favorite at Tacos A Go Go and definitely on my list to try next! Along with the Tatchos, the most popular items on the menu are the Tater taco, Barbacoa taco, and the Grilled Shrimp taco.

If you’re looking for a good reason to check this place out soon, this Saturday Tacos A Go Go (the Oak Forest location) is hosting an event called “Tacos & Doggos”! Who doesn’t love a Saturday spent with dogs & tacos?!? Like come on!! You can either dress your pup in costume to compete in the Doggie Dress Up Contest for a chance to win door prizes, raffles, and costume prizes or just bring your dog along for fun. Animal Justice League will also be out there sporting rescue dogs for adoption, in case you’re looking to give some lucky pup a good home.
